An onsite lecture on the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) was conducted by the ECC-REU 13 on December 17, 2019 at the Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA) 13 Training Hall in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.
Discussed in the lecture by Information Officer ll, Sandee V. Mocorro, are the benefits and services that an employee can avail of in case he/she encounters work-related accident or illness. It was also emphasized that overseas seafarers are covered by the ECP. Should OWWA-NRCO have seafarer clients who meet work-related accidents, illnesses, they can endorse them to ECC office to file for EC benefits and other services.
The lecture stimulated discussion among the participants who showed interest in the ECC’s Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program. They were one in saying that the ECP lecture was indeed very informative especially among the staff of the Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA) and NRCO who must know about the programs and services of the ECP. Moreso, that the overseas seafarers are covered which incidentally are their usual clients.
“The ECP lecture is very informative especially to new staff who are not yet aware of the program. Also, we are happy that ECC already have expanded its coverage to self-employed members of the Social Security System, hopefully the program will roll-out successfully in 2020,” said Anne Jane M. Hallasgo, Labor Communications Officer of OWWA.
