Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – On April 14, 2021, Eduard Guzman, an auxiliary nurse from the Divine Mercy Wellness Center, received Transportation and Meal Allowance (TMA) amounting to Php 6,000.00 pesos at ECC Regional Extension Unit (REU) Office, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, as additional benefit to his free Physical Rehabilitation sessions from the ECC.

While going home from work on April 26, 2019, Guzman sustained a fracture on his right-leg due to a vehicular accident. He was granted Temporary Total Disability (TTD) benefits under the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP). The said contingency hindered him to perform his duties and responsibilities as a nurse. Thus, he was provided with rehabilitation services.

The rehabilitation services is part of the EC Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program which gives hope, support and assistance to persons with work-related disabilities (PWRDs) to enable them to return on the economic mainstream.

Rehabilitation services and EC benefits are provided to PWRDs who receive EC disability benefits.

Guzman availed these benefits and waited patiently to complete his free 12 sessions of physical therapy at the Dr. Domingo S. De Leon General Hospital, ECC Regional Extension Unit (REU) 2’s partner hospital for rehab service with daily Transportation and Meal Allowance of Php 500.00.

The Employees’ Compensation Commission through its KaGabay program provides rehabilitation services which are designed to meet the individual needs of each handicapped employee to restore him to suitable employment as enunciated under the Art. 196 of P.D. No. 626, as amended. ECC ensures that its services are available to all public and private sector employees with work-related contingencies through its REUs throughout the country
