The Employees’ Compensation Commission–Regional Extension Unit No. 9 (ECC-REU9), in partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Center– Regional Extension Unit No. 9 (OSHC-REU9) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), has conducted an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Orientation cum Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) Seminar for the members of the academe at Springland Resort, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur on August 18, 2016.
Participated in by 49 representatives of different educational institutions in Zamboanga del Sur, the one-day activity promoted awareness on benefits and services under the Employees’ Compensation Program in the event of a work-related sickness, disability, or death of a worker. It also discussed ways on how to prevent occupational illness and injuries and promote safety and health in the workplace.
Participants also learned about the proper way of recording work accidents in the Employees’ Compensation (EC) logbook, one of the documents pertinent to claiming EC benefits, and the procedures in filing of EC benefits claim through a workshop.
“I am almost about to reach the retirement age and thought that I already knew everything there is to know about the Employees’ Compensation Program, but to my surprise, ECP has more to offer. Thank you for going the extra mile and coming to Pagadian. said Dr. Filomena Montealto, Chairperson of Education Industry Tripartite Council – Zamboanga del Sur.
The said seminar is a part of the ongoing information dissemination campaign by the Employees Compensation Commission which aims to promote awareness on the ECP among employees and employers in the region.
