The intensified awareness campaign on the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) has found its way to the Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA).

Stella Mae Obice, Information Officer from Employees’ Compensation Commission Regional Extension Unit No. 10 said that almost all members of COHARA have sent their representatives to attend and participate in the seminar which was held in VIP Hotel in March 2015.

She also added that the event was held in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 10

Being the “Gateway of Northern Mindanao”, the hotel and restaurant industry is one of the economic drivers of the region as it takes care of the needs of its local and foreign visitors. Cagayan de Oro is also a choice venue for national conventions—events where the service of the hotel and restaurant industry is best utilized.

In 2012, the City Planning and Development Office of Cagayan de Oro recorded 550,249 tourist arrival in the city.

“With the multitude of local and foreign visitors flocking to Cagayan de Oro it is just fitting that the men and women behind the hotel and restaurant industry of the city should be assured that when unexpected things happen in their performance of their jobs, they can rely on the government, specifically the ECC, to support them. That way, they will become more productive, more confident in doing their jobs,” ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said.

The COHARA, in turn, appreciated the effort of the DOLE and the ECC in informing them of the benefits and services of the ECP.
