The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry Negosyo Center (DTI NC) Iloilo and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board VI (RTWPB 6), trained five Persons with Work-related Disabilities (PWRDs) on How to Start a Business and Simple Bookkeeping with Productivity and Good Housekeeping on May 04, 2023, at the ECC Conference Room, 7J Corporate Center, Jalanda Street in Iloilo City.

The activity started with EC Program reorientation which highligthed the importance of Rehabilitation Services, as one of the major components of the Program.

The resource speakers were John Robin L. Juatas, Business Counsellor from the DTI- IIoiIo, and Misfah Lyn T. Dela Torre, Labor and Employment Officer II from the RTWPB 6.

“How to Start a Business and Simple Bookkeeping” training was designed to provide persons with work-related disability (PWRD) with knowledge, skills, and resources needed to start their own businesses, fostering their independence and economic empowerment.

While, Productivity and Good Housekeeping, was designed to PWRDs individuals with strategies, tools, and techniques to overcome productivity challenges and maximize their efficiency in the workplace.

“We are thankful for our resource person for helping us on this endeavor in capacitating our PWRDs in their chosen businesses,” said OIC-Executive Director Jose Maria Batino. “The comprehensive coverage of entrepreneurship topics, from identifying business ideas to navigating funding options, provided them with a solid foundation to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.”

The ECC, as the implementer of the EC Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program, believes that these pieces of training sessions have a significant impact on the participants’ lives of the PWRDs by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities and to overcome productivity challenges and maximize efficiency in the business environment.
