Tacloban City – The Employees’ Compensation Commission Regional Extension Unit 8 has met with the members of the Regional Labor and Management Cooperation Practitioners (RELAMACOP) for an updating session on the Employees’ Compensation Program at Patio Victoria, Tacloban City. A total of one hundred nineteen participants coming from twelve Labor Unions in Eastern Visayas attended the said activity.
For four years, the ECC has partnered with the National Conciliation and Mediation Board for the conduct of an annual assembly to cater to the concerns of the labor unions and labor organizations in the region.
“With most of RELAMACOP members coming from hazardous industries, it is important for us to be continually informed and updated of all the reforms being implemented under the EC Program,” Interim President Tata Acaso said. “We hope that the ECC will continue to support us with the same zeal in our future activities,” he added.
“Through the establishment of our Regional Extension Units, we have expanded our network on a regional basis and through this, we have been able to gather more advocates on social protection and occupational safety and health,” ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan Banawis said.
“The Employees Compensation Commission, including our fourteen Regional Extension Units, are conducting ECP advocacy seminars all over the Philippines. These seminars are all for free and those who are interested may simply coordinate with the nearest ECC Regional Extension Units or DOLE Regional and Provincial Offices near their vicinity for the scheduling of activities. We also conduct onsite and in-plant lectures for those who wish to have their employees oriented regarding the program,” Director Banawis added.
