The Employees’ Compensation Commission- Regional Extension Unit 12 conducted a lecture on Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) to the members of the Philippine Army assigned at the 27th Infantry Battalion in Brgy. Kablon, Tupi, South Cotabato, on April 12, 2013.

It was an unplanned lecture, which emanated from a mere visit to the two soldiers who were victims of a vehicular accident, as part of the Quick Response Program. The initial intent was to provide information to the said victims on ECP, on how to file an EC claim, to render assistance on the gathering of the documentary requirements, and to provide necessary support for the families.

After conferring with the spokesperson of the battalion, the ECC Information Officer found that none of the soldiers have knowledge on the ECP; hence, he immediately conducted a full length lecture on the matter.

The lecture was held at the 7th Infantry Battalion’s covered hall and was attended by 34 soldiers.

As per Circular No. 06-709 of the P.D. 626 or the Employees Compensation and the State Insurance Fund, it states that, “Despite the exclusion of the members of the AFP and the PNP from the coverage of Republic Act No. 8291, otherwise known as the Government Service Insurance Act o f1997, they are still covered by P.D. 626, as amended.”
