The Employees’ Compensation Commission is reaching more workers by teaming up with the Light Railways Transit Authority to launch its first billboard campaign featuring the Employees’ Compensation Program.

ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis is grateful for the support of LRTA in intensifying the EC Program information campaign.

“We appreciate LRT for welcoming us in their 10 LRT stations. The support of LRT to ECC will certainly inform workers of the benefits and services they can receive from the ECC in case they will meet a work-related sickness, injury or death,” Banawis said.

Banawis explained that posting of information material in LRT stations is a very effective advertisement because majority of the passengers of LRT are workers. According to government data, an average of 500,000 individuals ride the LRT 1 while 240,000 individuals ride the LRT 2 daily. Thru this, the probability that victims, or their family, of work-connected incidents will read the EC information campaign while in LRT stations is high.

LRT provided space for ECC information materials in five stations in Line 1: Balintawak, Monumento, Gil Puyat, EDSA and Baclaran stations and another five stations in line 2: Recto, V. Mapa, Betty Go-Belmonte, Cubao and Santolan stations for line 2.

“These billboard ads in LRT stations are definitely not the last project of ECC with LRT. We are exploring other ways and means to make workers aware of the ECC Program with this partnership,” stated Banawis.

The ECC provides benefits for work-related incidents but good practices in OSH provide a better and healthier community,” Banawis added.

ECC encourages employers and employees to practice good occupational safety and health by complying with OSH standards to ensure a healthy and safe work environment for employees. On the other hand, employees should also take reasonable care of their own health and safety.
