The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC)-Regional Extension Unit 1 and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through its Provincial Science and Technology Center in Lingayen, Pangasinan, have tied up to strengthen awareness of the Employees’ Compensation Program among the food and non-food DOST-assisted micro, small and medium enterprises in the province.

ECC Regional Officer Dexter Dupagan conducted two consecutive EC Program in house seminars to the owners of the food and non-food DOST-assisted establishment in Pangasinan during the first semester of 2020.

At least 50 participants attended the Green Productivity Training cum Employees’ Compensation Program Seminar held at El Jardine Restaurant in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

During the orientation, three components of the EC program were discussed such as prevention, compensation, and rehabilitation; and the 3E’s – Equalize, Enhance, Expand strategies, in response to the challenges facing the EC program.

Dupagan emphasized to the owners of the establishments the importance of building and sustaining a culture of safety and healthful environment in the workplace.

He also informed the employers on their obligations like paying SSS and EC contributions and maintaining an EC logbook in their company.

The Employees’ Compensation Program is a social insurance program designed to provide workers with sickness benefits, medical, and other benefits, in event of work-related sickness, injury or death.
