In response to the request of the Regional Medical and Dental Unit (RMDU) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Regional Office 1 in San Fernando City, La Union, the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) Regional Extension Unit (REU) 1 conducted a series of webinars on EC Program in April and May 2022.

Information Officer Dexter Dupagan oriented almost 200 police personnel from different municipal, city, and provincial police stations in Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Ilocos Norte.

“We wanted to learn about the EC benefits of employees who contracted Covid19 while performing their duties and responsibilities,” Police Colonel Techie Lebanan, Chief, RMDU1 said.

In May 2022, at least 50 Philippine Air Force (PAF) personnel from Ilocos region, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan (MIMAROPA), and National Capital Region (NCR) also underwent EC Program orientation during their Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training.

During the series of orientations, Dupagan informed the participants that the uniformed personnel are covered under the EC Program despite their exclusion from the coverage of Republic Act No. 8291 or GSIS Act of 1997. And to ensure that uniformed personnel are informed of their rights, benefits, and privileges under the EC Program, ECC partnered with the PNP, AFP, BFP, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to inform their personnel about the EC Program.
