The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) Regional Extension Unit 9 recently conducted an Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) orientation to 214 new Police Officers of the Philippine National Police – Police Regional Office 9.

ECC, represented by Regional Officer Cerna Ahmad, oriented the participants about the EC Program. She emphasized the importance of knowing the program and the benefits and services uniformed personnel may avail if they suffer from work-related contingency. She also discussed the compensation and rehabilitation components of the EC Program.

The police officers were happy and thankful to be oriented about the program and services of the ECC because they are now fully aware of the benefits they may avail under the ECP even though they were no longer covered by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

The ECP is a government program created to provide a meaningful compensation package and other services to employees who were victims of work-related sickness, injury, and death in the public and private sector including uniformed personnel  such as the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Coast Guard and Bureau of Fire Protection.

The said activity was made possible through the partnership of ECC-REU IX and the PNP Regional Finance Service Office headed by PSUPT Lynden S. Parcon.
