In a momentous occasion on October 20, 2023, the Employees’ Compensation Commission thru its Gender and Development Committee marked the inauguration of its prayer room, which has been made accessible to the general public seeking a tranquil sanctuary for their religious practices.

The event was graced by esteemed individuals, including Deputy Executive Director Atty. Jehan-Jehan Lepail, Commissioner Dalisay Macadawan representing the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, and Commissioner Amielyn “Asliyah” Limbona from the Philippine Commission on Women.

ECC Executive Director Atty. Kaima Via Velasquez explained the significance of this endeavor, stating, “We recognize the pressing needs of our clients, particularly our Muslim brothers and sisters, who often encounter challenges when seeking spaces to observe their religious customs. It is our belief that this prayer room, nestled within the bustling heart of one of the country’s busiest cities, will serve as a vital resource.

The ECC prayer room is accessible to the public from 5AM until 7PM during weekdays. Additionally, ECC encourages visitors to uphold the principles of mutual respect for one another’s faith and privacy and to bring their own religious items when using the facility.

This initiative is a testament to ECC’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and providing a haven for diverse faiths.
