BAUANG, La Union – The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), in coordination with the Local Government of Bauang and the Department of Agriculture, Region I, recently organized a training on Swine and Goat Breeding Management exclusively for beneficiaries of the Katulong at Gabay ng Manggagawang May Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program.

Fifteen persons with work-related disability (PWRD) qualified for the ECC’s KaGabay Program attended the daylong training course at the Senior Citizens’ Hall in Bauang.

The KaGabay is an economic assistance program of the ECC to aid employees who met work-connected contingencies by providing them with free physical rehabilitation and skills or entrepreneurial training.

After the said training, the ECC will provide domestic animals necessary to start new livelihood for the 15 PWRDs.

“The goal is to enable the PWRDs to reintegrate into the economic mainstream,” ECC’s Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis stated. She further explained that the ECC has adopted a holistic approach in designing its programs in order to truly transform the lives of PWRDs.

“The ECC is really going an extra mile in looking out for our welfare. Indeed, sa ECC higit pa sa benepisyo ang binibigay na serbisyo,” Domingo Flores, one of the beneficiaries of the KaGabay Program, expressed in gratitude.
