Legazpi City – “Masayang-masaya, kasi malaking tulong talaga ang ECC sa akin,” said Jonathan Ayen, a person with work-related disability (PWRD) from Donsol, Sorsogon.
Ayen received his hog raising business from the Katulong at Gabay sa manggagawang may kapansanan (KaGabay) Program, a rehabilitation and livelihood assistance program of the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC).
Ayen, a 26-year-old production crew, suffered an injury to his eye socket due to a slip accident at his workplace, a food manufacturing company in Valenzuela.
“Yung assistance na binigay sa akin ng ECC, makakatulong ng malaki sa pamilya ko,” said Ayen. He immediately visited the regional office of ECC in Legazpi City upon learning about the EC Program through social media.
ECC is a government-owned and controlled corporation under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that offers benefits and immediate assistance to workers who met work-related sickness, injury or death.
“Maraming salamat po sa ECC, sa tulong na binigay nila para sa akin,” Ayen said. “Sana marami pa silang matulungan na gaya ko.”
