As part of its health and wellness program, the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), in partnership with the BPI-Philam Life Assurance Corp., conducted a financial literacy seminar for its employees on July 29 at the ECC Multi-Purpose Hall, ECC Building in Makati City.
Patricia Anne Cruz, Evangeline Rose Mendoza, Coven Riparip, and Gio Pallera of BPI-Philam Life Assurance Corp. discussed the importance of savings and shared valuable tips on money management. They advised the employees of ECC to set clear financial goals, assess their financial situation, and create sustainable savings and budget plan in line with their priorities and needs.
According to Cruz and Mendoza, it is essential to have a sound financial attitude and discipline by making wise decisions on how to effectively allocate every centavo that comes into our possession. To do so, they suggested calculating the monthly income, setting aside a portion of the income for the monthly savings, and determining how much of the income must be spent on bills. They also proposed using the “income – savings = expenses” formula as a guide in developing a savings and budget plan.
In addition to the tips shared by Cruz and Mendoza, Riparip and Pallera encouraged the employees of ECC to avail insurance that will protect them and their loved ones financially in the event of unforeseen circumstances, help them achieve their dreams, and allow them to make the most out of their hard-earned money through investment.
The financial wellness seminar is part of the Employees’ Compensation Commission’s efforts to empower its employees and help them achieve financial stability and growth as individuals.
