The employees of the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) on May 9 and 22, 2023 attended the seminar on Republic Act 6713 or the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees” and 2017 Revised Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service (RACCS) conducted by Cesar R. Garduque Jr., Director II of the Civil Service Commission.

The seminar aims to discuss the salient features of RA 6713 and 2017 Revised RACCS, including performance of duties and responsibilities of government employees and officials, within the context of the code and ethical standards.

During the 2-day seminar, employees were equipped with the basic knowledge of RA 6713, acts that constitute violations provided therein, its grounds, and the process of filing administrative cases.

Director Garduque said, “The seminar serves as an orientation to ECC employees to educate and provide them with the tools and weapons in dealing with situations that call for filing of administrative cases against erring and abusive public servants.”

When asked on her takeaways, Jayrezze Cañedo, Information Officer III of the ECC shared that after the seminar, she became more empowered as an employee. “This seminar did not only provide the basic knowledge about the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for us public employees and our government officials, it also reminds us of the scope of our jobs and its limitations,” she added.

The seminar was attended by the regular personnel of the ECC as well as job-order and contractual employees.
