Marilyn Palencia, mother of late Reymar Palencia, an Arm Forces of the Philippines (AFP) member from Pili, Camarines Sur, recently received EC cash assistance worth ₱15,000.00 under the Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may kapansanan (KaGabay) Program of the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC).

Reymar Palencia, 25 years old, was ambushed while at work on January 17, 2021 at Brgy. Banquerohan in Legazpi City.

The ECC-KaGabay Program provides cash assistance worth ₱15,000.00 to the survivors of uniformed personnel who are Killed-In-Action (KIA) and ₱10,000 to those who are wounded-in-action (WIA).

The uniformed personnel under the AFP, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Bureau of Jail Management Penology (BJMP) are covered under the EC Program.

Aside from the EC cash assistance, the legal beneficiaries of uniformed personnel are entitled to EC funeral and death benefits. The processing of these claims are with the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), the ECC administering agency for the public sector employees, including all uniformed personnel.

The EC Program aims to aid the families of our modern day heroes who protect the country at the cost of their lives,” said ECC OIC-Executive Director Jose Maria Batino.
