Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – In line with the Employees’ Compensation Commission’s (ECC) mission of championing the welfare of Filipino workers, the ECC Regional Extension Unit 2 (ECC-REU 2) recently conducted a seminar on the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) to 36 major construction firms during the Construction Safety and Health Training held at Crown Pavilion, Tuguegarao City.

The topics discussed during the seminar are the prevention, compensation and rehabilitation components of the Employees’ Compensation Program. This seminar increases awareness on the benefits and services provided by ECC to employees who suffers from work-related illness, injury or death.

“The construction industry has one of the most hazardous work environments in the Philippines. In Region 2, a number of the EC claims filed were from the construction industry,” ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis stated.

Work-related illnesses and injuries happen to employees regardless of their industry. Thus, all workers should be aware of the EC Program.

“The ECC is continuously and deliberately improving its programs and services to cope with the needs of our employees or claimants and to reach out to all industries for fair and just provision of benefits,” Banawis added.
