ECC REU 2 Administrative Officer Iarah Domingo (with ID lace) awards livelihood starter kit worth Php 20,000.00 to EC beneficiary, Edwin Acosta, for his poultry business on April 29, 2024 in Amulong, Cagayan.

Amulung, Cagayan – “Pudno nga managtulong iti marigrigat nga pada mi dagiti programa ti ECC. Agyamanak la unay ta maysa nak nga naparaburan nga agtanggap ti tulong nga makaungar ulit ti biyag.” (The EC Program truly helps those of us who are in need. I am very grateful to be one of the fortunate recipients of assistance that will help me improve my way of life.)

The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) has awarded significant benefits to Edwin Acosta, a 51-year-old collector at Cagayan Electric Cooperative (CAGELCO), who figured in a vehicular accident on March 11, 2020.

While returning home from work, Acosta met an accident resulting in traumatic subdural hemorrhage, fractured clavicle, and multiple other fractures, which ultimately rendered him unable to return to work.

Recognizing the severity of his situation, ECC initially provided Acosta with Php 10,000.00 cash assistance. However, ECC’s commitment to Acosta’s recovery extends beyond this initial support.

Under ECC’s Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program, which aims to help workers with disabilities regain their independence and livelihood, Acosta received a Php 20,000.00 pesos livelihood starter kit in the form of a poultry business on April 29, 2024. This initiative is designed to empower persons with work-related disabilities (PWRDs) to start small businesses and sustain themselves financially.

Furthermore, Acosta is now a candidate for ECC’s comprehensive rehabilitation program. This program will offer him free medical consultations and physical therapy sessions, aiding his physical recovery and enhancing his quality of life.

The ECC remains steadfast in its mission to support workers who face work-related contingencies. Through various programs and relevant assistance, ECC ensures that individuals like Edwin Acosta receive the care and support needed to rebuild their lives after workplace accidents.
