The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) in Region 10 conducted an orientation on the EC Program during the 23rd General Assembly of Gingoog City Government Employee’s Association on September 23, 2024, attended by 386 local government unit (LGU) employees.

The decision to discuss the EC Program stemmed from the participation of three of their officers during the ECP Advocacy on August 1, 2024 in Cagayan de Oro City. Given that most GCGEA members were unfamiliar with the EC Program, they decided to have the topic included during their assembly.

For the years I’ve been in government service, this is the first time I’ve heard about the EC Program. I think most of the employees here at LGU Gingoog City are also unaware of it. I’m glad to know that there’s a government program that aims to help workers in case of work-related contingencies. We want to express our gratitude to ECC for the excellent presentation on ECC benefits. You have made our association invaluable to us,” said Engr. Ramon Torres, GCGEA President.

As of September 2024, ECC Region 10 has conducted 51 orientations on the EC Program reaching an impressive 2,510 participants from 1,206 private companies and government agencies nationwide. These sessions, conducted either online or face-to-face, demonstrate ECC’s commitment to empower employees with essential knowledge about their rights and benefits.

Since the establishment of ECC in Cagayan de Oro City in August 2011, ECC Regional Extension Unit (ECC-REU) 10, has worked hard to share information about the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP), especially in Northern Mindanao. This commitment has led to greater recognition and understanding of the EC Program. As a result, both private and government sector workers have accessed ECP benefits and services, including sickness, disability, and death benefits, as well as EC cash assistance, and other ancillary benefits offered by the EC Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program.
