APPROVING THE FACILITATIVE PROCESSING OF THE EMPLOYEES’ COMPENSATION BENEFITS FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES (AFP) AND THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL POLICE WHO WERE KILLED IN ACTION (KIA) AND WOUNDED IN ACTION (WIA) IN THE BATTLE OF THE ISLAMIC CITY OF MARAWI
WHEREAS, the sacrifice and bravery of soldiers and policemen in putting their lives on the line in the Battle of the Islamic City Of Marawi should be recognized and appreciated;
WHEREAS, to honor their gallantry in the performance of their sworn duties, this Commission recognizes the need to effect a facilitative processing of the EC benefits for the uniformed personnel and/or their qualified beneficiaries who were wounded or killed in action (WIA/KIA);
WHEREAS, Article 183 (formerly 177) par. (c) of PD. No. 626, as amended, empowers this Commission “to approve rules and regulations governing the processing of claims;”
NOW, THEREFORE, ON MOTION DULY MADE AND SECONDED;
This Commission RESOLVES as it hereby RESOLVED to direct the GSIS to immediately process and release the corresponding EC disability benefits to those uniformed personnel who were wounded in action (WIA) and death benefits to the qualified beneficiaries of those who were killed in action (KIA) in the battle of the Islamic City of Marawi upon receipt of the names of the wounded and the names of the immediate families of the casualties, from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and/or the Philippine Police (PNP);
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the GSIS is authorized to formulate the necessary guidelines to carry out the abovementioned directives;
RESOLVED FINALLY, that this Resolution shall take effect immediately and a copy of this Resolution be furnished to the GSIS for compliance and proper guidance.
