In line with the celebration of women’s month, the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) was honored to witness the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) official launch of its Gender and Development (GAD) Agenda 2024-2028, which included the Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere (MOVE) – DOLE Chapter initiative during its flag raising ceremony on March 4, 2024. The event marks a significant step in the government’s efforts to promote gender equality and end violence against women in the workplace.

The MOVE initiative seeks to engage men as advocates and allies in the fight against violence toward women, encouraging male employees to take a stand in promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

In his speech, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma stressed the need to promote equality regardless of gender, as well as the importance of starting the elimination of violence and discrimination practices at the household level.

ECC Executive Director Kaima Via B. Velasquez remarked, “We are proud to be part of this important milestone with DOLE. The ECC fully supports this MOVE initiative, and we will continue to ensure that our programs are aligned with the principles of gender equality and development.”
