On June 12, 2025, as the nation celebrated Independence Day, the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) has extended its commitment to public service by conducting an advocacy seminar on the Employees’ Compensation Program in Barangay 353, Kusang Loob, Sta. Cruz, Manila.

More than 50 barangay officials and residents participated and listened curiously to the topics discussed by ECC representatives from its Appeals Division and Information and Public Assistance Division on Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) and the workers welfare through the EC Program.

Ngayon po ay isang Magandang pagkakataon upang tayo ay matuto tungkol sa napakahalagang programa ng Employees’ Compensation Commission, kaya tayo ay makilahok at magtanong upang tayo ay maliwanagan tungkol dito,” Chairperson Nene Gorospe urged in her welcome remarks.

The discussion paved empowerment to the participants through the awareness of the rights of women and children related to VAWC. This topic has been integrated to the ECP seminars to promote inclusivity – to provide a community-based approach in bringing support to the welfare of not just the workers, but to all women and children in the locality. The advocacy likewise instilled inspiration in them because of the knowledge that there are programs intended to extend help to workers who went through contingencies.

Itong makabuluhang diskusyon na ito ay malaking patunay na maaaring magsimula at bumangon kahit na may pinagdaanan ka sa trabaho,” Councilor Dorie Cochico expressed in gratitude to the held seminar of the ECC.

The advocacy seminars of the ECC will continue to stretch to the different barangays in the regions starting this year to foster inclusivity and have more informed workers, and consequently more empowered individuals able to contribute to the nation’s progress.
