To increase the level of awareness and understanding of our clients in relation to their rights, benefits and privileges under the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP), the Employees’ Compensation Commission-Regional Extension Unit 1 (ECC-REU1) conducted an in house seminar to all government information officers in Pangasinan during their general assembly last April 25, 2018 held at the City de Luxe, Dagupan City.
At least 55 information officers from different national government agencies and local government units in the province attended the seminar.
ECC-REU 1 Regional Officer Dexter Dupagan oriented the participants about the EC Program. He discussed the benefits and services employees may avail if they    suffer from a work-related contingency. The seminar also highlighted the recent program reforms of the ECC anchored on the “3Esâ€- Equalize, Enhance and Expand strategy in response to the challenges facing the EC Program.
He likewise explained to the uniformed personnel present that despite the exclusion of the members of the AFP and the PNP from the coverage of Republic Act No. 8291, “The Government Service Insurance Act of 1997,†they are still covered by P.D. 626. Thus, in all cases, no EC claim from the uniformed personnel should be rejected on the basis alone of absence of GSIS Policy Numbers.
Dupagan reminded everyone that even if there is ECC it is still more important that employees develop and sustain a culture of safety and healthy environment in the workplace.
The EC Program in-house seminar was in collaboration with the Pangasinan Association of Government Information Officers and the Philippine Information Agency-Pangasinan.
PAGIO is a group of information officers of national line agencies and local government offices in Pangasinan which aims to establish a cohesive body of persons in the area of information and advocacy programs which will embody the sentiment and aspiration of its members. It is also in line with the President’s advocacy to reach out and get feedbacks from project beneficiaries and the general public as well.
