The Employees’ Compensation Commission recently launched its “ec-Ulat.me” work accident report system in the L’fisher Hotel, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

The launching was led by ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis and DOLE- Regional Director Johnson G. Cañete with division chiefs and staff of ECC Main Office and DOLE in Region 6.

More or less 120 participants, comprised of key stakeholders on safety and health, labor unions, workers federations, quad media outlets, government and non-government agencies, and labor intermediaries and partners, had been oriented and participated in the pilot-testing of the ec-Ulat.me system.

The objective of the ec-Ulat.me is to gather and immediately respond to reports on work-related accidents as part of ECC’s Quick-Response Program.

To report work-related accidents, anyone can text at 0977 133 4050 (globe) and 0999 966 8427 (smart) or thru internet at http://ec-ulat.me

Upon receipt of work-related accident report, ECC regional officers will validate the said report with DOLE and OSHC and consequently provide appropriate actions.

The “ec-Ulat.me” is not only intended to get reports on work-related accidents but also to act on these reports accordingly. It also aimed to increase awareness on work-related accidents and the Employees’ Compensation Program. Through this, the DOLE and ECC will be able to get the real picture of accidents happening in the workplaces. This system will be implemented throughout the country after its launching in Region 6” Director Stella Z. Banawis said.

Regional Director Johnson G. Cañete, on the other hand, said that “Wages and other labor concerns are negotiable, except safety and health. We do not negotiate accidents or loss of life of a worker; thus, each of us are encouraged to report these work-accidents for appropriate actions. Through this system, we can further assure labor compliance in Region 6 and in the whole country.”

The ec-Ulat.me system is anchored on the ECC’s mandate of initiating policies and programs toward adequate occupational health and safety and accident prevention in the working environment.
