The Philippine Red Cross (PRC), in line with the Employees’ Compensation Commissions’ (ECC) Occupational Health and Wellness Program and Green Our DOLE Program (GODP), conducted a hybrid orientation on “First Aid and Basic Life Support” to more than 100 ECC officials and employees nationwide on April 29, 2022 at ECC office in Makati City.

Mc Michael Angelo Salimbagat and Mary Ann Chirades Ocampo, PRC volunteers, emphasized the importance of acquiring an ability to respond to emergency cases in order to preserve life.

Salimbagat discussed the appropriate procedures in performing emergency assistance to one whose life is at stake due to an emergency condition. “In carrying out the necessary intervention for an emergency situation, one must be cognizant of the proper conduct to be employed so that the performance reaps the result it seeks to achieve,” he said.

ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis acknowledged the paramount importance of the PRC’s mandate in substantially reducing casualties in emergency situations. “Having basic knowledge on first aid enables individuals to perform the life-saving intervention in the event of a contingency,” she added.

The Philippine Red Cross’ advocacies are attuned to ECC’s fundamental role in preventing contingencies which may prejudice the health and safety of individuals.
