In line with the Employees’ Compensation Commission’s (ECC) mission of championing the welfare of Filipino workers, the ECC Regional Extension Unit 6 (ECC-REU 6) recently conducted a seminar on the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) to 40 micro, small and medium enterprises in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.
The topics discussed during the seminar included the prevention, compensation and rehabilitation components of the Employees’ Compensation Program.
In the prevention component, compliance to occupational safety and health standards was highlighted as the most important factor to increase the productivity of their employees which will consequently result to more efficient performance and higher sales.
The compensation and rehabilitation aspects were presented to the entrepreneurs and proprietors as their EC monthly contribution would redound to benefits and sevices to workers as social insurance for work-related sickness, injuries and death.
“Decent work through safe and healthy workplace is everybody’s concern. MSMEs are not excluded. ECP will assure workers of their social benefits when they experience work-connected diseases or accidents.†said ECC Executive Director Stella Banawis.
The Employees’ Compensation Program is a government program that provides compensation and rehabilitation benefits to private and public sector workers in the event of work-related contingencies.
