The Employees’ Compensation Commission-Regional Extension Unit No. 11 (ECC-REU11), together with the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) Region 11, has recently organized an ‘Entrepreneurial Development Training and Financial Awareness Seminar’ for persons with work-related disabilities (PWRDs) from different areas of the region.

Rea Sa-an of NCRO shared her knowledge on the basic characteristics of an entrepreneur, as well as the fundamental elements of starting up a business and the different risks and rewards of going into such. She also discussed the proper method of making business plans and presented examples of different viable businesses that the PWRDs can draw inspiration from especially if they are still deciding on what type of business to undertake.

“The objective of this activity is to guide PWRDs who are contemplating to set-up a business,” ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said.

Part of the seminar is a workshop in making a business plan to equip the participants with sufficient skill to properly prepare their respective business undertaking. Financial Literacy was also discussed focusing on topics such as preparation of financial statements and budgeting the family’s finances.

“Napakalaking tulong po sa amin itong ibinigay na training dahil ito ay magagamit hindi lamang sa negosyong ipagkakaloob sa amin ng ECC kundi pati rin sa pang-araw-araw naming pamumuhay”, Gerry Alvarado, an EC beneficiary said.
