The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) joined the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in the observance of Fire Safety Month by conducting a Fire Safety Seminar for its employees on March 21, 2022, at the ECC Building, Makati City via Zoom.

This year, the BFP’s theme is “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa.”

FO1 Sherry Mae Sanchez of the BFP Community Relations Unit in Makati City served as the resource person for the seminar. She discussed the characteristics of fire, the Tetrahedron of Fire which showed the relationship of the four-elements of fire (heat, oxygen, fuel, and chain reaction), the different classes of fire, how to extinguish a fire using the fire extinguisher through the TPASS – Pull, Aim, Squeeze and Sweep. She added that it is important to inspect fire extinguishers regularly ensure that it is available in case there is an actual fire incident.

FO1 Sanchez shared the Three A’s when fighting fire which is Activating the building alarm system, Assist any person in immediate danger without risking yourself, and only after these two are completed should you Attempt to extinguish the fire.

This seminar is only one of the various information campaigns the Bureau of Fire Protection is doing to ensure the safety of every Filipino from fire
