“There is no better time than now to raise awareness about the benefits available to workers under the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP). In my 30 years as an HR Manager in the private sector, I’ve seen firsthand how many workers are unaware of their entitlements. This seminar is truly beneficial, especially for those struggling to return to work due to job-related contingencies,” shared Laurence Guinto, one of the participants of the ECP Advocacy Seminar and Consultation in CALABARZON.

With over 250 participants actively engaging in the two-day seminar, the event proved to be a resounding success. The first leg took place at Escala Hotel, Tagaytay, on February 4, drawing more than 140 attendees. The second leg followed at Holiday Inn & Suites Lipa-Malvar, Batangas, on February 6, gathering over 110 participants.

The seminar brought together a diverse group of participants, including workers, employers, labor union representatives, SSS voluntary members, uniformed personnel, and government agency representatives. Each attendee played an active role in discussions, exchanging insights and raising concerns about employee compensation and welfare, making the event an interactive and meaningful learning experience.

Setting the tone for the sessions, DOLE-Cavite Provincial Director Marivic B. Martinez in Tagaytay and DOLE-Batangas Provincial Director Predelma Tan in Batangas delivered warm welcome remarks, underscoring the significance of strengthening workers’ awareness of their rights.

ECC Employees’ Sector Representative Atty. Allan S. Montano and Employers’ Sector Representative Federico R. Marquez, Jr. also shared inspiring messages, highlighting the crucial role of education in empowering both workers and employers to fully maximize the benefits under the ECP.

ECC Deputy Executive Director Atty. Evelyn Ramos and Information and Public Assistance Division (IPAD) Chief Ma. Cecilia Maulion led the discussion, providing a comprehensive overview of the ECP’s coverage, compensable contingencies, and benefits.

“At ECC, we are committed to ensuring that every Filipino worker, whether in the private or public sector, understands their rights and receives the support they deserve in times of need,” said Atty. Ramos.

Echoing this sentiment, Commissioner Marquez highlighted the role of awareness in maximizing the impact of ECP: “A well-informed workforce is an empowered workforce. Through seminars like these, we aim to bridge the knowledge gap and help employees and employers alike navigate the benefits available to them.”

The ECC remains steadfast in its mission to promote the ECP nationwide, reinforcing its commitment to protecting and supporting Filipino workers through continuous information dissemination and policy enhancements.
