The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) will kick off its Calendar Year 2017 nationwide Employees Compensation Program advocacy seminar on January 26, 2017 at Jaimees’ Hotel in Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
The first of a series of ECP advocacy seminars this year is made possible in close coordination with the DOLE Region 8 and DOLE Field Office. This one-day free of charge seminar is in line with ECC’s aim to promote ECP awareness in the regions.
Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said that in addition to its other ECP info awareness campaign such as conduct of ECP in-house/on site seminars, convergance with DOLE and other governmnet agencies, forging agreements with PNP, BFP and DepEd and use of radio, tv and social media, the ECC has been often going around the country to explain ECP benefits and services, which employers and workers may not know yet.
The ECC, being an International Standards Organization (ISO) certified agency, strives for continual improvement in its services provided to the public and strengthen its information campaign not only on the three (3) components of the EC Program namely – prevention, compensation and rehabilitation but focusing more on the recent EC Program reforms. These strategies are anchored on “3Es”- Equalize, Enhance and Expand EC Benefits to improve the EC Program.
Aside from a thorough discussion on the package of EC Program benefits and services to public and private sector employees in the event of work-connected sickness, injury or death, time will also be allotted for the promotion of the various programs, projects and services of DOLE Region 8 – Field Office.
The seminar will be attended by more than 120 participants composed of human resource officers, union representatives, employers and workers in private establishments and government sector. Uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force and their civilian personnel are also invited to attend this activity.
A consultation meeting with the Government Service Insurance System and Social Security System officers in the region is likewise scheduled on January 25, 2017 to update them on recent ECC policies inorder to facilitate processing of EC claims.
