The Employees’ Compensation Commission Regional Extension Unit 10, together with the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Negosyo Center, conducted a livelihood training to 11 persons with work-related disabilities (PWRDs) in Northern Mindanao on June 25 and 26, 2018 at Cagayan De Oro City.

PWRDs who attended the training include Merlie Amistoso, Dennis Bagotsay, Ronald Lituanas, Peter Mabayo, Diony Nunez, Edgardo Rodriguez, Wiewen Sangka, Jonard Sayagnao, Annabel Sumampong, Andy Valeio and Renan Villarino, all are beneficiaries of the Employees Compensation Program (ECP) who availed the livelihood assistance of ECP under its Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) Program.

The training is a prerequisite prior to the granting of livelihood assistance. It aims to equip the PWRDS with the know-how on starting and managing a business and is part of ECC’s social preparation for all its beneficiaries.

A representative from the RTWPB in Region 10 discussed financial literacy and basic bookkeeping to ensure that the PWRDs are aware of the significance of handling their finances correctly while the DTI Negosyo Center shared their expertise on entrepreneurship development.

The seminar is centered on building the entrepreneurial mindset of the participants to ensure the right management of their chosen businesses.

“We hope they succeed in their businesses soon and may they continue to live a joyful life despite the disability they acquired from their work. ECC will always be here for our PWRDs who need our support and assistance,” said ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis.
