Makati City-  With the easing of community quarantine measures across the country,   the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC)  has resumed its operation on a skeleton workforce starting  on June 1, 2020.

ECC, alongside other government agencies and private sector companies adopted a work-from-home arrangement starting March 17 following President Rodrigo Duterte’s announcement of the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the entire Luzon in a bid to combat the threat of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

After more than two months, it was downgraded to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) which brought back limited economic activities in urban hubs like Metro Manila.

ECC opened for operation to accept application for cash assistance and rehabilitation services from workers with approved EC claims from Social Security System (SSS) and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). ECC has been active in answering queries pertaining to the EC Program through its social media platforms despite the quarantine.

Beneficiaries of workers who die due to work-related contingencies may also apply for cash assistance once they obtained a favorable decision on the EC claims they filed at the Systems or their appealed case at the ECC.

“In this time of crisis where COVID-19 limits our movement, ECC assures the public that we will continue to provide benefits and services to all workers who met work-related contingencies,” Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said.

Compulsory members of the SSS and GSIS who met work-related sickness or injury or their beneficiaries, in case of worker’s work-related death, may file their Employees’ Compensation claims at any SSS or GSIS branch nearest them.

EC benefits include loss of income, medical benefits, rehabilitation services, cash assistance and death with funeral benefits.

The ECC will resume operation with a skeletal staff and adopt alternative work arrangements while quarantine measures remain in place.

Banawis added that protocols on hygiene and sanitation have been implemented at the ECC to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its clients and the ECC personnel amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

For more information, the public is encouraged to reach ECC by sending their inquiries to ECC’s official Facebook page at facebook.com/ecc.official or call at 8896- 7837.
