ZAMBOANGA CITY—The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), through its Regional Extension Unit No. 9 (REU-9), and the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) recently renewed their MOA to work together for persons with work-related disabilities (PWRDs) under the ECC’s Katulong at Gabay ng Manggagawang May Kapansanan, or KaGabay Program.

“As the first ISO accredited hospital in Zamboanga Peninsula, ZCMC is, indeed, a valuable partner of the ECC in bringing its programs and services closer to the PWRDs,” ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said.

Under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), the ECC shall refer to the ZCMC PWRDs who, upon initial evaluation, will benefit from those physical restoration or rehabilitation to enable them to become productive members of the society.

On the other hand, ZCMC shall assess the referred PWRD and provide him the necessary physical restoration, rehabilitation services, or medical intervention. It may also recommend any additional services and/or medical interventions necessary for the treatment of the PWRDs.

Since 2014, there are 30 PWRD-beneficiaries of the KaGabay Program who have undergone physical therapy and diagnostic services in ZCMC.
