The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) thru its Regional Extension Unit (REU) 1 conducted an orientation on EC Program during the area-wide seminar organized by the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch (RCMB) No. 1 and Region 1 Ilocos Conflict Administration and Resolution Ensemble (I-CARE), Inc. on May 27, 2022, at Awesome Hotel, San Juan, La Union.

This is the first face-to-face area-wide seminar conducted since lockdowns and restrictions started in 2020. Almost 150 participants from 66 companies in Region 1 attended the said seminar.

Regional Information Officer Dexter Dupagan discussed the employees’ benefits, rights, and privileges under the EC Program. He highlighted the workers’ benefits due to work-related Covid19. He also informed the participants that applications for the EC cash assistance due to work-related Covid19 has been temporarily suspended pending the issuance of authorization from the regulatory authority to utilize the ECC Cooperating Budget (ECC-COB) for cash assistance in CY 2022.

Representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPB) presented their topics on safety seal requirements and new wage orders respectively.

The said event is anchored with the theme “Recovery through Productivity and Cooperation.”

On April 5, 2022, ECC and RCMB1 converged and conducted the same orientation for Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. held at Calasiao Plant & Related Companies Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Calasiao, Pangasinan. Workers from 14 workers’ union in Ilocos, Isabela, Pampanga, Laguna and in Cagayan De Oro City participated in the said activity.

We thank the RCMB1 for making the ECC part of their activities. We look forward to more future collaborative efforts like this,” ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said.

Despite the Covid19 pandemic, ECC remains committed to pursuing and seeing its mandate done with vigor to inform all Filipino workers in the public and private sector about the benefits and services available to workers who met work-related contingencies,” Banawis added.

The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) is a government corporation attached to the DOLE for policy coordination and guidance. ECC is mandated to provide meaningful and adequate income benefits to workers and/or their beneficiaries in the event of work-connected disability, or death due to sickness or injury.
