Penablanca, Cagayan- In an effort to help the victims of work-related contingencies, Employees’ Compensation Commission Regional Extension Unit 2 (ECC-REU 2) conducted a Quick Response Program (QRP) visit to Pelovello’s residence at Alimanao Hills Penablanca, Cagayan.
Roger Ruma Pelovello, a former employee of a printing press, had a stroke due to unbearable heat in his workplace which caused him to lose his consciousness.
As a result of the incident, he was rushed to the hospital and found out that a vein in his brain blew up.
ECC-REU 2 made a visit to inform Pelovello about the benefits and services of the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP).
One of the services provided under the rehabilitation services of ECP is the Quick Response Program (QRP) which aims to provide immediate assistance to employees who met work-connected contingencies.
Through this, ECC-REU 2 conducted a psycho-social counselling and provided information and assistance in the filing of the appropriate EC claims.
During the visit, Pelovello received a package of grocery items, IEC materials, EC application forms and list of requirements for filing EC claim. Pelovello was advised that ECC will be coordinating with the SSS for the processing of his claims.
ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said, “We believe that there is a need for ECC’s presence to be felt as soon as the contingency occurs.”
“We want these employees to feel the presence of ECC from the time they had a contingency, until they file for their claim then eventually receive the benefits provided by the agency. In ECC, we want persons with work related contingency (PWRDs) to be well attended and truly cared for,” Banawis added.
