The Employees’ Compensation Commission Regional Extension Unit 6 (ECC-REU 6) enlightened more than 300 human resource practitioners, guidance counselors and public employment service officers throughout Panay and Guimaras on the benefits and services of the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) in the recently concluded Regional Career Advocacy and Employment Congress of the Department of Labor and Employment held in Iloilo City.

The topics discussed during the seminar are the prevention, compensation and rehabilitation components of the EC Program emphasizing coverage, requirements, and available benefits that private and public workers can avail in the event of work-related contingencies.

Furthermore, it was emphasized that the ECP is a separate workers’ benefits from SSS, GSIS and Philhealth benefits.

“It is a perfect time to promote and inform our clientele about the benefits and services of the Employees’ Compensation Program” said ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis.

Banawis added that participants can also invite ECC in their respective offices to further discuss ECP to their workers as part of the Commission’s commitment of intensifying its presence and accessibility of its service to all workers in the region.

The ECC, a government-owned and controlled corporation, attached to the Department of Labor and Employment, with Regional Extension Units nationwide, is ready to assist workers and/or their dependents in the event of work-related sickness, injury or death.
