The Employees’ Compensation Commission Central Office employees in Makati City and its Regional Extension Units (REUs) nationwide participated in a face to face and webinar sessions hosted by the in-house lawyers of the ECC to commemorate the “18 Day Campaign To End Violence Against Women.”

The three batches of VAW awareness training started with two sessions on November 25 and on the afternoon of December 2, 2024. The resource persons specifically discussed the provisions of RA 9262 and its key highlights. It was stressed during the session that violence doesn’t take only the form of physical abuse but it also includes emotional, psychological and financial abuse.

To drive the importance of understanding the components of RA 9262, actual real-world cases were set as examples and were discussed thoroughly by the speakers.

The ECC participants actively asked questions and commented on the cases which resulted in lively and relevant discourse on the subject, driving further the appreciation and understanding of the purpose of PCW and its program to eliminate VAWC in the country.

The PCW launched the 18 Day Campaign To End Violence Against Women program which runs from November 25 until December 12, 2024. The roots of the program stemmed from the results of studies that revealed that Violence Against Women (VAW) is affecting 1 out of 3 women worldwide.

To get every citizen involved especially government workers, the current campaign aims to raise public awareness about the various forms and impact of VAW, while emphasizing that VAW is a public crime and encourage safe, effective interventions in preventing and addressing VAW within their communities, particularly in public spaces. Also, encourage individuals, communities, and government to work together to create a comprehensive response to VAW with strong focus on prevention.
