The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Regional Extension Unit (REU) partnered with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) CAR to orient the provincial Public Employment Service Office – Manager’s Association of the Philippines (PESO-MAP) of the region on the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP).

The orientation of the PESO managers took place in the scenic municipality of Kabayan, Benguet where the famous Kabayan Mummies are located. The event was hosted by the DOLE CAR Baguio-Benguet Field Office headed by Dr. Emerito Narag

The key reason why DOLE-CAR invited the ECC to this meeting was to drive awareness of the benefits that they can claim in case of work-connected contingencies. The managers were key in learning about the services and benefits of the ECC since they directly interact with all the sectors of the employment environment, from employers to employees, future workers and even persons with disabilities looking for opportunities for employment.

ECC CAR REU Information Officer Dennis Lee discussed the updates on the ECC program and the benefits and services the workers who suffered from COVID-19 may avail under the EC Program.

Lee said that the ECC is constantly reaching out to all interested parties, including local government units (LGU) and other agencies that are key in reaching out to grassroot level communities to spread information about the ECC and the benefits and services of the EC Program

The PESO is a multi-service facility that was established to provide information and assistance to DOLE clients and constituents of local government units (LGU’s) in the entire Philippines. PESO aims to fill job vacancies through referral and placement, career counseling, training, and seminars. PESO accommodates various individuals including job seekers, employers, students, out-of-school youth, migratory workers, and persons with disabilities.
