The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) has renewed its Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Baguio General Hospital (BGH), one of the largest government run hospitals in the northern part of the country, to provide rehabilitation services to persons with work-related disability (PWRD) through its Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapanasanan (KaGabay Program).

A PWRD is qualified to avail of the benefits under the KaGabay Program if he has an approved EC claim. Under this program, the beneficiary can undergo physical or occupational therapy services and apply for the provision of assistive devices such as crutches, wheelchairs and even artificial limbs, if needed. The PWRD is also given a daily transportation and meal allowance to help him defray expenses incurred in going to and from the rehabilitation center.

BGH was selected as one of the accredited therapy venues because of its track record and well trained physicians and physical therapists. Their facilities are also up to date and complete to cater to the different needs of PWRDs. Throughout the years, the feedback of ECC beneficiaries have been positive. The state run hospital’s accessibility has also been taken into consideration in renewing the MOA.

The renewal of the agreement with the Baguio General Hospital shows the commitment of the ECC to help the Filipino worker rise above the challenges brought about by contingencies they encounter at work.
